The 25th John J. Eikenburg Law Week Fun Run, held March 27th in Sam Houston Park, raised a record $64,815.61 for The Center, a nonprofit agency that provides opportunities that promote individual choice, personal growth and community involvement for persons with developmental disabilities and those needing similar services, so they may reach their maximum potential. This milestone 25-year event brings the total to nearly $881,000 in contributions to The Center over the life of the race. Over 1,000 walkers and runners participated in the event.

Named after the late former HBA president who founded the race in 1985, the John J. Eikenburg Law Week Fun Run is truly a team effort that involves many months of planning and coordination.

Race directors were Kara Stauffer Philbin of KBR and Wesley R. Ward of Watt, Beckworth, Thompson & Henneman, L.L.P. Honorary co-chairs were Marcy Kurtz of Bracewell & Giuliani and Richard McGee of Duke Energy Corporation, both longtime supporters and former chairs of the Fun Run. The 2009-2010 Fun Run Committee included Antroy Arreola, Marissa Arrecia, Eduardo Aviles, Brian Ayson, Janet Beck, Elizabeth Vinluan Bernal, John Black, Peter Blomquist, Hon.
