22nd John J. Eikenburg Law Week Fun Run Raises Over $50,000 for The Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation

The HBA’s 22nd John J. Eikenburg Law Week Fun Run raised more than $50,000 for The Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation and drew a crowd of nearly 800 runners, walkers and supporters. This year’s event brings the 22-year total donations to The Center to over $723,000. The Center makes independent lives possible for developmentally challenged people in the Houston community.
Held March 24th at Sam Houston Park, the event featured an 8K run, a competitive one-mile childrens’ run and a one-mile family walk. Forty-two law firm and corporate teams competed.
The event was a team effort that involved many months of planning and coordination. Race directors were the Hon. Jeffrey V. Brown of the 55th District Court, Chris Dodson of Bracewell & Giuliani LLP, and M. Scott Michelman of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, L.L.P. The Fun Run Committee included Lori Aylett, Robin Blanchette, Elizabeth Clearman, Joshua Davis, Tonja De Sloover, John J.
