57th Harvest PartyRaises Record $432,500
for Houston Bar Foundation

The 57th Harvest Party, co-sponsored by the Houston Bar Association, Houston Bar Association Auxiliary and Houston Bar Foundation, raised a record $432,500.00 in underwriting to benefit the Foundation, the charitable arm of the association. The Foundation supports programs such as the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, which provides pro bono legal services to low-income Houstonians.

The event was held November 13 at River Oaks County Club, with over 1,125 HBA members and their guests in attendance. Travis Sales of Baker Botts LLP, treasurer of the Houston Bar Association, and Tracie J. Renfroe of King & Spalding LLP, 2006 chair of the Houston Bar Foundation, served as event co-chairs.

Prior to the Harvest Party, the HBA, HBF and Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program honored the firms and individuals that have become Equal Access Champions by committing to handle pro bono cases through the HVLP for the next five years.

The Houston Bar Foundation is now in its 24th year of service to the legal community and the profession. The Foundation’s primary beneficiary is the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, which provides thousands of hours of pro bono legal representation each year. The Foundation also funds the Juvenile Justice Mock Trial Program, now in its 32nd year of teaching young teens about the justice system.
